OAC publishes WCAS Audit Report (update posted on 10/01/10)

The OAC is pleased to announce that the Quality Audit Report of Waljat Colleges of Applied Sciences (WCAS) is now available on the OAC website (http://www.oac.gov.om/files/schedule_reviews/62/waljat_quality_audit_report_final2.pdf). This is the second Quality Audit Report to be published by the OAC.

Quality Audit is the first stage in Oman’s two-stage institutional accreditation process. It is designed to provide a level of assurance to the public about the quality of higher education institutions’ activities, and constructive feedback to assist with their ongoing improvement efforts.

The Report, which was approved by the OAC Board on 7 December 2009, documents the findings of the Quality Audit by the OAC of WCAS. It comments on WCAS’s Mission and Vision, and the appropriateness and effectiveness of its systems for achieving that Mission and Vision. It also contains a summary of the Audit Panel’s findings, together with formal Commendations where good practices have been confirmed, Affirmations where WCAS’s ongoing quality improvement efforts merit support, and Recommendations where there are significant opportunities for improvement not yet being adequately addressed.

The OAC emphasises that the precise number of Commendations, Affirmations and Recommendations an institution receives in its Audit Report is not as important as the substance of those conclusions. It is neither significant nor appropriate to compare the Audit Reports of different higher education institutions solely on the numbers of Commendations, Affirmations and/or Recommendations.
