OAC Website Terms and Conditions

The purpose of this web site (www.oac.gov.om) is to facilitate communication between the Oman Accreditation Council (OAC) and the communities it serves.  It will be continuously changing as information is updated and services are added and amended. At all times, the OAC strives to ensure that the information provided is accurate, current and properly authorized to be in the public domain. However, your access to and use of the web site, either on your own behalf or on behalf of the organisation you represent, is subject to these terms and conditions. The OAC reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time by posting the changes to the web site. You are responsible for regularly reviewing these terms and conditions to obtain notice of such changes. Your continued use of the web site after any such change constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

Language

The official language of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman is Arabic.  However, most of the higher education activities within the Sultanate are conducted in English.  Therefore, in order to provide the best possible service to its various stakeholders, the OAC will strive to provide a bilingual web site.  However, it provides no guarantees that any or all content will be simultaneously available in English and Arabic.

In the event that you believe there is a difference between the English and Arabic versions of content on the web site, please contact the Technical Secretariat of the OAC for a definitive interpretation.

Site Requirements

For optimal viewing of this web site, the OAC recommends the following:

  • Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 (800 x 600 is OK, but you will need to scroll horizontally and vertically to see the whole screen)
  • Internet Explorer 6 or higher; or Netscape 6 or higher; or FireFox 2 or higher
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 or higher
  • Javascript enabled
  • Cookies enabled (with a maximum privacy level of Medium-High for Internet Explorer)

Cookies

The OAC web site will, from time to time, require the use of cookies in order to facilitate your access to restricted areas for which you have permission, or to enable transactions related to the activities of the OAC (a cookie is a text-only string that gets entered into the memory of your browser).  The OAC Web Site will not upload cookies to your computer without first proving clear notification and the opportunity for you to reject it.

Discussion Boards

In order to provide the best possible service to its various stakeholders, the OAC will, from time to time, host open Discussion Boards on this web site (for example, relating to the OQN, the Training Program, and Draft Standards). Persons wishing to post messages to the various Discussion Boards may be required to register their name and email with the OAC. In keeping with the spirit of professional, open and collegial discussion that typifies the best traditions of the higher education sector, messages are not subject to approval by the OAC prior to being posted on the web site. The OAC disclaims all liability, express or implied, arising in connection with messages posted to Discussion Boards hosted in this web site. However, the OAC reserves the right to remove any messages that may be perceived as libelous or offensive, and reserves also the right to cancel the registration of any person to an OAC discussion list at its complete discretion.

Mailing Lists

In order to provide the best possible service to its various stakeholders, the OAC will, from time to time, provide Mailing List services designed to keep subscribers informed about important issues.  You are responsible for subscribing and unsubscribing to these Mailing Lists as you see fit, or may ask the OAC, in writing, to do so on your behalf.  However, the OAC also reserves the right to unsubscribe any person from any and all of its Mailing Lists at its complete discretion.

Photographs

In order to provide the best possible service to its various stakeholders, the OAC will, from time to time, post photographs of the OAC-related events on this web site. These photos may identify individuals. You should contact the OAC if you object to any or all photographs containing your image being posted. The OAC will ensure that these wishes are respected. If such a photograph has already been posted, the OAC will remove it at the earliest possible opportunity.

Copyright and Trade Marks

Intellectual property rights (including copyright) that subsist in the web site and its contents are owned by or licensed to the OAC. Subject to any applicable legislation, you may not reproduce, adapt, store, communicate or distribute or sell the Database or any part of the Database without the prior written consent of the OAC. The OAC logo and any other image, name or trade mark, whether registered or not and used in this web site to identify the OAC and its services are the property of the OAC and may only be used with the prior written consent of the OAC.
